CarShield Sportsplex© AAA Hockey & Futbol facility

Keystone Construction Company has been chosen to design and build a new sports complex in Chesterfield that will be one of the largest in the Midwest.

The $60 million, indoor and outdoor, CarShield Sportsplex© AAA Hockey & Futbol facility will accommodate the CarShield AAA Hockey & Futbol clubs, which already serve more than 500 kids and 45 teams in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. This includes J.P Beilsten’s elite AAA CarShield hockey program, which produced alumni and future St. Louis Blues player Colin Ralph, recently ranked 48th in the NHL’s 2024 draft.

The 325,000-square-foot CarShield Sportsplex© will offer four indoor turf soccer fields, two indoor ice rinks, team locker rooms, a pro shop, training and fitness spaces, a restaurant, bar, concessions, classrooms, and competition ice rinks, educational hockey and futbol academies, youth training, food and entertainment year-round.

Outside the complex, there will be three turf soccer fields, concessions, a dining patio, and a children’s playground. The design features large, clear-span structures that will allow for an open interior free of obstruction in the ice rink and soccer fields.

Keystone will serve as the design/build general contractor for the project which is scheduled to begin construction in October and complete in January 2026. The civil engineer is Stock & Associates. The architect is Gray Design Group.

“Everyone knows CarShield AAA Hockey is bursting at the seams; and now this state-of-the-art Sportsplex with the on-site Prospects Hockey Academy will ensure J.P. Beilsten’s elite hockey players continue to join our 29 NCAA players, collegiate stars, and go professional,” said Nick Hamilton, CarShield CEO. “On the futbol side, Nacho Novas is helming CarShield’s Futbol Club and already has players within the STL CITY organization, wins at Super Copa, Missouri President’s Cup, and the Missouri State Championship. And It will be great for St. Louis to host a lot more local, regional, state-level futbol competitions and year-round futbol school.”

“We are excited to be involved in the construction of another sports and entertainment facility. The CarShield team is very dedicated to providing not only the highest quality experience and education to the participants in their sports programs but also creating the best sports facility in the region,”said Bill Hardie, president of Keystone Construction Company. “Keystone is honored to be the design/build contractor for this first-of-its-kind project in our region and believe that it will set the standard for all that follow.”

HOW TILT-UP PANELS ARE ERECTED

Did you ever wonder how buildings are constructed with concrete tilt-up panels? Keystone will be using one of its latest projects in Chesterfield, MO as a "teaching course". The panels are formed, rebar installed and concrete poured directly on the building floor slab. Each panel weighs approximately 48,000 pounds. On this project a 150 ton lattice-boom crane will raise and place each of the 45 panels into position taking 4 days to complete.
